ABOUT THIS POLICY
FMD Compass is an internal marine compliance and operational information application provided by Foyle & Marine Dredging Ltd (“FMD”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
The app is intended solely for authorised FMD employees, vessel crews, contractors and other approved personnel. This policy explains how personal information is collected, used, stored and shared when you access FMD Compass or its associated website.
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR INFORMATION?
Foyle & Marine Dredging Ltd is responsible for the personal information processed for the operation and administration of FMD Compass.

INFORMATION WE MAY COLLECT
Depending on how you use FMD Compass, we may collect or process:
• Your name, email address and member-account details.
• Your vessel, role, department or employment-related information where provided.
• Login, access and account-approval records.
• Forms, checklists, reports or other operational information submitted through linked services.
• Communications sent through the app or associated website.
• Technical information such as device type, operating system, IP address, app activity, diagnostic information and approximate access times.
• Notification preferences and information required to deliver app notifications.
• Any other information you choose to provide through the app or linked forms.
Authentication credentials are managed through Wix. FMD does not have access to users’ plain-text passwords.
HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We may use personal information to:
• Create, approve and administer authorised user accounts.
• Confirm that users are permitted to access FMD information.
• Provide access to operational forms, vessel checklists, controlled documents, policies, MLC information and ISO procedures.
• Support marine safety, regulatory compliance and company management systems.
• Maintain audit trails and investigate operational, safety or security matters.
• Communicate important operational or compliance information.
• Send notifications where enabled.
• Maintain, secure, troubleshoot and improve the app.
• Meet legal, regulatory, contractual and employment obligations.
LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING
Where applicable under UK GDPR, EU GDPR or relevant data-protection legislation, we process information because:
• It is necessary for FMD’s legitimate interests in safely and effectively managing its vessels, personnel and marine operations.
• It is necessary to comply with legal or regulatory obligations.
• It is necessary in connection with employment or contractual arrangements.
• You have provided consent where consent is required, such as for certain optional notifications or communications.
SHARING OF INFORMATION
We do not sell personal information.
Information may be shared only where reasonably necessary with:
• Authorised FMD personnel and company management.
• Wix and its service providers, which provide the website, member-account and mobile-app platform.
• Providers operating forms, hosting, communications, notifications, analytics or other services used by FMD Compass.
• Professional advisers, auditors, insurers, classification societies, flag administrations, regulators or enforcement authorities where required.
• Other parties where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect safety, security or legal rights.
Third-party providers process information under their own contractual and privacy obligations.
LINKED WEBSITES AND FORMS
FMD Compass contains links to FMD webpages, operational forms and potentially other authorised services. Information submitted through an external or embedded form may be processed by the provider hosting that form as well as by FMD.
Users should only submit information necessary for the relevant operational purpose and must not include unnecessary personal or sensitive information.
INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Some technology providers may process or store information outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used to protect information transferred internationally.
RETENTION
Personal information is retained only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet operational, safety, employment, audit, insurance, contractual and legal requirements.
Account information may be retained while a person remains an authorised user. Operational forms and compliance records may be retained for longer periods where required by company procedures or applicable legislation.
SECURITY
FMD and its service providers use reasonable administrative, organisational and technical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure.
Users are responsible for protecting their login details, keeping devices secure and reporting suspected unauthorised access promptly.
USER RIGHTS
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:
• Request access to personal information held about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Request deletion of information where there is no lawful reason to retain it.
• Request restriction of, or object to, certain processing.
• Request a portable copy of certain information.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
• Lodge a complaint with an appropriate data-protection authority.
These rights may be limited where information must be retained for safety, employment, regulatory, contractual or legal purposes.
ACCOUNT DELETION AND ACCESS REMOVAL
Users may request deletion of their FMD Compass account or removal of access by contacting FMD at info@marinedredging.co.uk.
Removing an app account does not automatically require deletion of operational, employment, safety or compliance records that FMD must lawfully retain.
NOTIFICATIONS
Users may control app-notification permissions through their device settings. Disabling notifications may prevent receipt of non-mandatory app alerts but does not affect other operational communication methods used by FMD.
CHILDREN
FMD Compass is an internal business application and is not intended for children or for general public use.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app, our operational practices, legal requirements or service providers. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
